SAS Safety Systems – A partnership born from friendship
2 blokes who can see the fun side of life, Paul Stibilj and Tim Briglia met each other through a shared extreme passion in supporting the same Australian Rules Football Club. That club was the St Kilda Football Club otherwise known as “the mighty Saints”! We shared time together on the Committee of the local “Saints” supporters group on the Gold Coast in Australia where we both lived. The emotional highs and lows of watching the television broadcasts of the games together taught us a great deal about our different personalities. That shared experience, understanding of two personalities, and the forged family friendship has now been crystallised, years later, in a business partnership.
The fun side of the friendship then turns to a side that Paul and Tim take extremely seriously.
As a manager of many staff involved in maintenance of local government infrastructure, Paul was responsible for their safety. Being one to “think outside the square” and being madly passionate about safety in the workplace he spent many years, using simple logic, working on a concept to address the issue of suspension trauma / suspension intolerance. His motive was to ensure he got his staff home to their family at the end of each shift. He eventually finalised the product and was ready to get away from the drawing board and into commercialisation mode.
Paul then turned to Tim who had previously created a startup business and sold it. It was this experience that Paul acknowledged and the trust established between the 2 boys that made the partnership realistic. Tim joined the company as Joint Managing Director and CEO to commence the commercialisation process.
